Letters concern his father's life in Leadville, Colo., acquaintance with H.A.W. Tabor, participation in a volunteer fire company, and disposition of his fireman's hat and belt. Two 1934 letters from Leadville Fire Marshal James French contrast Leadville of the 1930s and mention Mrs. Tabor still living at the Matchless Mine.

Elizabeth Bonduel McCourt Doe Tabor was born Elizabeth Nellis McCourt to Peter McCourt and Elizabeth Nellis in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 1854. She married Harvey Doe, Jr. on June 27, 1877. Harvey's father had a half interest in a mine in Central City, Colorado, and the couple moved there hoping to make a living.
