ALS, 1775 June 17 : Philadelphia, to Dr. David Cobb.

Paine, a member of the Continental Congress (1774-1778), reports to a friend from the 2d Continental Congress, which had just convened on May 10, that "we have unanimously chosen George Washington Esq. to be general of the American forces." This took place on June 25, two days before this letter was written.
