Papers are chiefly typescript and holograph. George Washington University papers (25 boxes),1917-1984, include lecture notes, drafts of publications and speeches, and papers concerning his administrative work as University Marshal, Secretary of the University, Dean of Students, and University Historian. Other professional papers (5 boxes), 1921-1975, include papers documenting work with the American Historical Association and Mount Vernon College. Personal papers (12 boxes), 1911-1984, include his school and financial records, photographs, 1 video tape, and correspondence, including some with his father-in-law, Indiana Congressman Louis Ludlow, and Hans Baron.

Louis Ludlow was born in Rush County, Ind. He was the Washington correspondent for the Indianapolis News until 1928, when he was elected to the Indiana House as representative from the 11th district.
