Practical geometry, the foundation of science : part the 1st : contents foliages, ornament, roofs, elevations, & c., [ca. 1840-ca. 1860]

Instructional manual for drawing "arranged in easy lessons to facilitate the student and artist in the Dept. of Science." There appear to be three sets of lessons: geometric figures, perspective drawings, and elevations. In the first set, instructions are given for drawing angles, curves, arches, and geometric figures. Pediments, cornices, and room plans for carpet are shown. The perspective drawing section begins with directions for geometric shapes followed by examples using furniture, figures, and a water wheel. Furniture forms represented include a bed, writing desk, folding table tops, and upholstered chairs and sofas. Finally, elevations show interior walls of rooms with decorative elements and window treatments. Illustrations are in wash.
