Ledger, 1742-1749.

The volume opens with four pages of transactions made for the estate of Arthur Savage. The remainder of the entries record transactions made by Samuel Phillips Savage with craftsmen, store keepers, other merchants, and Arthur Savage's estate. Very few of the entries refer to specific products, instead mentioning merchandise and sundry accounts. A few note the buying and selling of apparal. Savage conducted business in and around Boston as well as with merchants in Newport, Providence, London, and other cities.

Samuel Phillips Savage was a merchant in Boston, Ma. The son of Arthur Savage and Faith Phillips, he married Sarah Tyler. He is said to have presided at the meeting at Old South Church in advance of the Boston Tea Party where it was decided that tea should not be landed in Boston's harbor.
