Indentures, 1806-1829.

Consists of eight indentures for a piece of property on the north side of Walnut St. between 8th and 9th streets in Philadelphia. The lot (No. 347), originally owned by George Latimer, was purchased by the elder Samuel Williams in 1807; the younger Samuel owned one of the adjacent lots. After the elder Samuel's death, his estate was divided among his six children, Thomas, Samuel, Elizabeth, Joseph, Latitia, and Reed. In 1809, Reed bought his brothers' and sisters' shares in the lot, assuming sole ownership. In 1813, Thomas sold an adjacent piece of land to Reed, expanding the size of the lot. After Reed died in 1817 without any heirs, it was inherited by his remaining brothers and sisters. This time, the property was purchased from the others by Samuel and Joseph. After Samuel passed away around 1829, Thomas purchased the lot from his widow, Sarah. Four of the documents deal with his mortgage and payment to Sarah.
