Shrine [manuscript poem], circa 1930?

The collectiion consists of a typescript poem on five leaves, titled Shrine, with the author's name and address written in the upper left-hand corner of leaf 1 and sparse handwritten corrections throughout. The poem, in heroic couplets, is an impressionistic tale of a strange, dream-like encounter. Author's notes suggest this was published as the January feature of Poetry Journal; Carmer's return address places him at Theatre Arts Monthly, where he worked from 1929-1933.
