The Cairns family of Buffalo, 1992.

A family history written by Mamie Tillema Marty, granddaughter of John Cairns II, who was a friend and neighbor of John Muir. The narrative describes the relationship between the Cairns and Muir families, and includes Cairns' and Muir's reminiscences of their childhood years in the Town of Buffalo (Marquette Co.), Wis. Also described is the Cairns family's emigration from Scotland to the U.S. in 1849, their purchase of land, and various daily activities.
