Papers of May, a newspaper reporter, circus musician and advance man, salesman, and writer of articles and books. His papers primarily document his lifetime activity as an industrial and circus history writer. Included are notes and a manuscript from his work on a corporate history for the Prudential Insurance Company. Also present is a route book kept from 1856 to 1860 by his father, Josiah M. May, for the H. Orton Circus Company.
