The transcribed diary with index of Sergeant Charles H. Dickinson, who enlisted in 1862 in Edgerton, Wisconsin in Company E, 22nd Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, and mustered out and returned to Edgerton nearly 3 years later. Also included are talks given at veterans' gatherings in the 1890's, and at the unveiling of the Soldiers' Monument in Jefferson, Wisconsin, 1907; poems, some written in the 1850's while a student; and an essay describing a trip to Yellowstone National Park in 1913.
