Papers of Thomas Bigford, who served as a constable in Genesee County, New York until 1848 when he moved to Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, where he farmed, worked as Civil War Security Officer, and operated a hotel; including orders from Justices of the Peace in Genesee County, bills, receipts, letters from friends describing pioneer conditions, letters from soldiers in the Wisconsin 18th Volunteer Infantry Regiment, two letters from former Lieutenant Governor Samuel W. Beall and one describing a visit to camp by President Lincoln, September 22, 1861.
