Miscellaneous letters to and from Clinton while governor of New York, 1777-1795, relating to procurement of men and supplies for the Revolutionary cause, to other military affairs of the Americans in New York, and to spies and plots, including several intercepted British messages; and a copy of the court proceedings investigating the loss of Fort Montgomery to the British. Several letters dated after the Revolution relate to disposition of land in New York State.

George Clinton (July 26, 1739 – April 20, 1812) was an American soldier and statesman, considered one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. A prominent Democratic-Republican, Clinton served as the fourth vice president of the United States from 1805 until his death in 1812.
