Statewide planning and special studies, 1961-2003.

Correspondence, memoranda, reports, surveys, and materials related to highway, railroad, and waterborne transportation in Wisconsin, including special studies related to various transportation modes. The records were used to support planning and policy decisions by the Division of Transportation Investment Management and as a record of past accomplishments and methods. Projects documented in the files include the Intercity Bus Study, Lake Michigan Car Ferry Study, Local Arterial and Collector Assistance Program, Milwaukee Road merger and reorganization, National Transportation Study, Rail Abandonment Study, Southeast Wisconsin Commuter Study, state highway and rail planning, Transportation Policy Studies Institute, and the Transportation System Management Program. Some records were created by the Division of Planning and Budget, and the State Highway Commission. The processed portion of this series is summarized above, dates 1961-1988, and is described in the register. There are additional accessions dating 1963-2003 which are described below.
