Coastal Management general file, 1974-2000.

Correspondence, memoranda, minutes, subject files, and reports related to the program and the Coastal Management Council. Includes records of committees established by the council, correspondence with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and regional planning commissions, grant applications, progress reports, and final reports. The functions of the program were transferred to the Division of State Energy in 1984 and the post-1984 records in this series are from the Bureau of Coastal Management.

The Wisconsin Coastal Management Program was initiated by the governor in 1974, when he appointed a 26-member Coastal Coordinating and Advisory Council charged with studying, evaluating, and, if needed, developing a coastal management program for Wisconsin.
