The State Board of Health was created by the Wisconsin Legislature in 1876 (Chapter 366). With the reorganization of state agencies in 1967, the functions of the State Board of Health were incorporated into the new Department of Health and Social Services (WIHV85-A674) in the Division of Health (WIHV85-A364).
