Closed session minutes documenting activities of the Board of Nursing and several related organizations: the Committee of Nurse Examiners (also known under other similar names), 1916-1967, which supervised nursing registration examinations; the Committee on Nursing Education, 1921-1949, which set standards for all schools of nursing and registered graduate nurses; and the Committee of Examiners of Trained Practical Nurses (also known under other similar names), 1949-1966. "Closed session" minutes reflect only the action taken by the board, not the discussion surrounding the action, and are not confidential.

Chapter 402, Laws of 1949, created the Board of Nursing and its administrative body, the State Department of Nurses (see WIHV85-A530). These were successors to the State Board of Health's Bureau of Nursing Education (see WIHV88-A58), and its Committee on Nursing Education (1921-1949) and Board of Examiners for Nurses (1916-1949).
