About 1996, the former Division of Resource Management (WIHV86-A966) of the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources (WIHV85-A695) was reorganized into a Division of Land and a Division of Water. The Division of Land included a forestry bureau. In 1999, under Section 15.343, Wisconsin Statutes, the Bureau of Forestry was made a separate division.
