Papers of Carl Detzer, agent and manager in the binder twine operations of Deering Harvester Company and International Harvester Company. Includes detailed reports (1889-1906) on the manufacture and marketing of twine and the methods of cultivating fiber-producing plants in the Philippines, Mexico, and various Central American countries; memos (1903-1906) comparing prices paid for sisal; two of Detzer's diaries and cash account books from 1905 and 1923; letters concerning his positions in IHC, his fatal accident in 1925, and the settlement of his estate; printed government reports related to twine and a notebook of facts and general information about the twine trade and the Macleod and International Harvester Companies; and personal letters (1894-1906) from WIlliam Deering to Mrs. Detzer.
