Charles Spalding Wylly (1836-1923) was born in Sapelo Island, Georgia, the son of Alexander Williams and Elizabeth Sarah Spalding Wylly, and a grandson of Thomas Spalding of Sapelo. He was the author of several publications pertaining to the area, including: Annals and Statistics of Glynn County, Georgia (Brunswick, Ga.: 1897), The Seed that Was Sewn in the Colony of Georgia...1740-1840 (New York and Washington: Neale Publishing Co., 1910), and Memories, (Brunswick: 1916).
