Edward James "Ted" Koppel (born February 8, 1940) is an American broadcast journalist. He spent much of his career at the ABC network, for whom he was a war correspondent in Vietnam and later the State Department Correspondent for ABC News. He is most widely known for his twenty-five year tenure (1980-2005) as the anchor for the ABC news program Nightline .
