Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 11 March 1988. McCoy talks of his early life in Chattanooga, Tennessee, his parent's divorce, its impact on his life, and living in Akron, Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee. He tells the story of his conversion to the Mormon Church, his courtship and marriage, and the Church's influence on his present life. He comments on the concerns of black Mormons and Mormon missionary work in the Barberton, Ohio area.
