Governor's executive orders : Governor A. B. Chandler, 1956-1959.

These records document the governor's authority to issue directives having the force of law. Included are orders authorizing the creation and reorganization of state agencies and commissions; approvals of employment and of state contracts; responses to emergencies; authorizing the use of the Kentucky National Guard to maintain law and order during mining strikes and during the desegregation of public schools; and removing the sheriff of Perry County from office, with background documentation.
