Campaign Data Service records, 1964-1979.

Consists of correspondence, reports, advertisements, and printed materials, relating to state and local elections and neighborhood initiatives. Contains material relating to individual campaigns for positions on the San Francisco School Board, and the offices of County Sheriff and Supervisors, including Wilson Riles's successful 1970 race for State Superintendent of Schools in California. Includes material related to the Nob Hill Neighbors and Pacific Heights Association campaigns against city zoning laws, which allowed construction of high-rise apartment complexes in those neighborhoods. Also includes materials pertaining to an unsuccessful campaign in 1969 by several local groups to bring about a charter amendment to revise the city charter. With these are materials from other local campaigns, including the 1973 Yes on "C" Open Spaces/Recreation ballot proposition.
