Confederate payrolls, 1861.

This collection contains muster payrolls and individual paid accounts. The muster payrolls list the paid soldiers from different companies in the 1st, 2nd, and 60th Alabama Infantry regiments as they were paid from W. H. Chambers, the Paymaster General. The individual accounts list payment for salaries, servants, forage, horses, clothing, and subsistence. The accounts also include physical discriptions of the slaves who accompanied their masters as servants.
