This collection includes two deeds: one deed between Edward Branch and his wife Sarah, and George Cox, for 414 acres in Chesterfield County, dated and recorded on April 11, 1814, in that county; and a deed between George Cox, Sr., and George Cox, Jr., for 19 acres in Chesterfield County, dated June 30, 1835, and recorded July 13, 1835, also in Chesterfield County. These deeds were accompanied by eight surveys, filed in the map collection under Chesterfield County surveys for 1703, 1813, 1820, 1823, 1833, 1834, 1838, and 1855. The survey of 1834 is for 19 acres and appears to relate to the 1835 deed. The survey of 1813 for 414 acres may relate to the 1814 deed in some way. The 1703 survey is the earliest known survey for Chesterfield County. Besides the Branch and Cox families, this Chesterfield County material includes documents for the Friend and Perdue families.
