This series is concerned with child nutrition, including the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program, the Special Milk Program, and the Food Distribution Program, administered by the Department through the federal government for schools and various child care centers. The series consists of a management handbook for sponsors, a basic administrative procedures manual, handbooks for certification programs and financial management, a cost control manual, newsletters, and other material. Some of the manuals were produced under contract with the Auburn University School of Education and funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service. The series documents the department's role in providing needy children with wholesome food in school and child care settings.
