This is a collection of land deeds and maps involving the early families of Kniskerns Dorf, Schoharie Township, now Esperence, Schoharie County, New York. Several of the families intermarried and include the original founders and their descendants : Johannis [John] Peter Kniskern, Hendrick Housck, Johannis [John] Merckle, Lambert Sternberg, Philip Dietz, Jacob Sidney, and Peter Vroman. Also in the collection is a copy of the 1830 will of Peter Enders, Jr.

Kniskerns Dorf, or town, was the northern most of the early German settlements in the county, named for Johannis [John] Peter Kniskern (ca. 1685-1759) who arrived in Schoharie County in 1712, from Rotterdam via London.
