This series consists of records that have been filed with the Board of Adjustment, in accordance with Title 55, Section 378(2)-378(8), which permits dependents to file suit (upon the death of the official) for $10,000 against the State of Alabama. This act includes such officials as police officers and fire fighters. Included in this series are statements of facts, claims, decrees from the Board of Adjustment, correspondence from sheriffs and chiefs of police, copies of death certificates, affidavits, notices of remittance from the state comptroller, and other related material. Also included is a collection of photographs, proofs and negatives of Governor George C. Wallace giving awards in 1971 to dependents.
