Henry Bond was born in Watertown, Mass., on 21 March 1790 to Henry Manuel Bond. He received his A.B. (1813) and M.D. (1817) from Dartmouth College. After practicing medicine in Concord, New Hampshire for two years, he moved his practice to Philadelphia in 1819. Bond was a member of the Philadelphia Board of Health (1833-1838) and served a term as its President (1837-1838). He also served a term as Vice-President of the Philadelphia Medical Society (1844).
