Helene Champlain, book dealer and collector managed the bookstore in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel where she met and corresponded with many famous personalities. Miss Champlain worked at a variety of jobs in the early 1930s. She wrote a column for Harpers and a novel around 1935. Charles Rollo Peters III (1892-1967) was born in Paris, but moved to California when he was five. He was an actor, scenic designer, director, producer and co-founder of the New York Theatre Guild. He designed the costumes for George Pierce Baker's 1921 The Pilgrim Spirit: a pageant in celebration of the tercentenary of the landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth, Massachusetts, December 21, 1620.
