Letters written between 1862 and 1864 by Francis M. Skillin, a private in Company H of the Maine 15th Infantry Regiment. Skillin, from Garland, Maine, wrote to his parents, his sister Rebecca, and his brothers; letters were written from Augusta, Maine; Carrollton and Morganza, Louisiana; Pensacola, Florida; various places in Texas; and Martinsburg, Virginia. The letters describe his daily life, his feelings about the war, and activities of his regiment.
