Born 1895 in Warsaw, New York, Msgr. Campbell was educated at Hamilton College, Princeton University, and the Catholic University of America (CUA). He received an MA in 1920 and Ph.D. in 1923 from CUA and prepared for the priesthood, 1922-1926, at the Sulpician Seminary, now Theological College. His academic career was spent entirely at CUA. In 1921 he joined the faculty of the Department of Greek and Latin and served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1934 until retirement in 1966...
