Frank Spooner Churchill papers, 1892-1946.

The collection can be thought of as two separate series. The first consists of scattered material from Churchill's early (pre-1919) career, and includes a few items relating to his medical practice, two apparently unpublished addresses, and some correspondence from his service in the First World War. The second series centers on his efforts during the Second World War. At some point Churchill began to worry about what form the re-education of the German population would take after the war. Much of the remainder of his life was spent urging responsible officials to think about the question of German re-education. His efforts were well documented in the collection. The collection should be of interest to those interested in the history of pediatrics, the social role pediatricians played in the child development movement, health in Chicago, medical practice in World War I, and the cultural regeneration of the German people after World War II.
