Ernest Merrill Daland was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts in 1891. He graduated from Brown University and received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1918. Dr. Daland specialized in the study and treatment of cancer. He was the first Chief of Staff at the Pondville Hospital, a position he held from 1927 until 1959.
