H[ugh] W[eedon] Mercer (1808-1877), Army District of G[eorgi]a, (Savannah, Ga.), re establishment of a permanent Court Martial by the Confederate Congress and requesting that Mercer "report... the name of any field officers of Georgia Regiments not now in service who... would make intelligent and inflexible members of such a tribunal...." Walker, 3rd Military District, Pocotaligo, S[outh] C[arolina] relating decision that bundles of harvested rice should not be used as food: "it is not the wish of the commanding General that 'Sheaf Rice' should be used as forage" and informing him that "four regiments of the Reserve force of South Carolina will be added... to your command." Letter, 27 March 1863, Head Quarters, Department of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, Charleston, S[outh] C[arolina], from Jordan to A[lexander] S[omervail] Garnett (1831-1907) (Richmond, V[irgini]a) informing him that in May 1861, Jordan sent to his brother, R[obert] S[elden] Garnett (1819-1861), "a map of the country around Manassas" and urged him to occupy "in strong force... the position of Manassas Junction." Jordan went on to request the return of the original map and letter from A.S.
