Collection consists of two leather bound diaries in ink containing entries by John T. Flake about his mission to the Northern States between 1909 and 1910. Also includes a typed copy of earlier journals for the period 1907 to 1908. The journals give accounts of difficulty coming by food, money and lodging, prejudice against the Church, riots caused by racism against African Americans, notes on Joseph Smith's life, and visits by President Ellsworth and President Woodruff.
