George Minne picture postcards to Francis Hyslop, 1938.

The collection consists of two picture postcards from Minne to Hyslop, Christmas, 1938, with messages thanking Hyslop for his correspondence, art he is sending to Hyslop, and expressing good wishes for the holidays. The postcards show scenes near his home in Laethem-Saint-Martin, of a windmill and boats on the river. The postcards were sent in an envelope, included, and are thus not marked for the post in any way.

George Minne was a Belgian artist, perhaps best known as a sculptor and Symbolist illustrator. Born in Ghent, he studied at the AcadeĢmie Royale des Beaux-Arts and began to produce emotionally-charged sculpture and drawings. His work was popular with Symbolist writers, and he illustrated several collections of their poetry.
