Benjamin Draper papers, 1883-1980 [manuscript].

The collection contains the research notes, informational sources (including biographical sketches on Colo. stage performers and an index of plays produced in Colo. theaters) and rough drafts, used in the writing of Draper's dissertation, Colorado Theaters, 1859-1969. Additional materials include copies of articles and papers written by Draper; general correspondence (1938-1977); papers concerning Helen G. Bonfils and Ida Kruse McFarlane; copies of Kenneth Jones' dissertation, The Theatrical History of Greeley, Colorado 1870-1908; one microfilm reel containing copies of black and white photographs taken by Glenn B. Vetesk at the dedication of Mt. Wilcox in Waldorf, Colo., on August 1, 1948.

Benjamin Poff Draper was a university professor, television producer and Colo. historian. He was born July 10, 1907 in Malvern, Ark. and moved with his father to Denver, Colo. in 1914. Draper attended Hyde Park School and Manual Training High School and received his B. A., M. A. and a Ph. D. from the University of Denver. He also received a Ph. D. in Economics from the University of Chicago. In the 1930s, he worked with the Central City Opera House Association, Anne Evans and Ida Kruse McFarlane...
