Theodore Frelinghuysen Hallam, former Confederate officer, lawyer, state senator, orator, and wit, was very active in Democratic party politics in northern Kentucky in the late nineteenth century. He was noted for leading the faction within the party which opposed William Goebel in the 1890's. In 1875, Hallam married Bettie Stevenson, of Covington, Ky.
