Newspaperman, politician. Woodson was born in Madisonville, Ky. He had a long and varied dual career in newspaper publishing and in politics. He was editor and publisher of the OWENSBORO MESSENGER from 1888 to 1929, when he "retired" from the newspaper business. Politician. Haly was at one time Adjutant-General of the Kentucky State Guards. He was also a prominent figure in the state's Democratic Party and active in flood relief work in Louisville during the 1937 flood. He died of pneumonia in February 1937.
