Proceedings, 1619 July 30-August 4.

Proceedings concern setting value of tobacco; educating and evangelizing of Indians; planting of corn, mulberry trees, flax, hemp and grapevines; contracts; managing the storehouse; restricting trade with Indians; taking a census; reporting christenings, burials and marriages; worship; and the marriage of servants. Also patent of John Martin, punishment of Thomas Garnett and Henry Spelman, petitions to the Virginia Company, new colonists, appointing a sub-treasurer, erecting a college and changing the name of Kecoughtan to Elizabeth City. Laws were passed against idleness, stealing boats, gambling, drunkenness, excess in clothing and killing cattle without permission.
