The Ford Motor Company Obsolete Tool Drawings records consist of microfiche copies of design drawings for obsolete tools, dies, and machines: both entire structures and individual components (approximately 165 drawings on 77 millimeter microfiche). Though created by the Mechanical Design Department of the Ford Motor Company, many of the drawings are designs for items that were intended for use in Greenfield Village, the Henry Ford Museum, Ford Village Industries, and Henry Ford's agricultural holdings and personal residences, rather than for Ford Motor Company facilities. Included are design drawings related to the heating plant, temporary crane, and refrigeration controls of the Henry Ford Museum. Other specimens include designs for a drill press for the Edison Laboratory, a buckwheat grinder, a fixture for testing torsional strength of planetary transmissions, the Hydro-Pumping Plant (Ypsilanti, Mich.), and a furnace for the Village Glass Plant.
