Notebooks, 1879-1895.

Three notebooks: the first, from 1879, containing extracts from literature on painting; the second, dated 1895, "Notes from Mr. Wm. M. Chase's criticisms at Shinnecock," being the artist's critiques of a student exhibition, and an undated descriptive catalogue of a family coin collection. Rose Lamb, born in Boston, studied painting under William Morris Hunt, and was highly regarded as a landscape and portrait painter until abandoning her career around 1900.
