James Taylor letter, 1855.

This collection consists of a letter written from James Taylor to John A. Parker of Dohlonega, Georgia. Writing from Washington, D.C. in 1855, Taylor describes a delegation of Eastern Cherokees which was to appear before the Department of Indian Affairs to appeal for money and land due them under Native American treaties. Junaluska, Cherokee Chief, was in attendance at the hearing. Taylor also mentions several friends.
