This series comprises correspondence and other material generated or retained by the Rev. H. George Anderson, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) from 1995-2001. This correspondence is with ELCA-related colleges, universities, and seminaries. Correspondence dates from 1995-2001 and is primarily typewritten and printed electronic mail correspondence, although there are several handwritten notes. Principal authors of this correspondence are college, university, and seminary presidents, and Bishop Anderson. Other material includes printed invitations, programs from commencement exercises, printed reports, promotional brochures and pamphlets, schedules of events, press releases, and newspaper clippings. Subject matter for this correspondence includes invitations extended to attend installations of presidents, commencement exercises, anniversary celebrations, and various conferences, symposiums, or seminars on various topics related to the college and its relationship with the church-at-large. Other subjects include status reports on executive searches to fill presidents' vacancies, requests for names to place into nomination for alumni awards or boards of directors, letters of greeting or congratulations, and general inquires about timely topics regarding ELCA-related educational institutions. Files are arranged by type of institution and then alphabetically.
