Incorporating documentary elements, The edge of life explores themes of anxiety and isolation in modern society through the fictional story of Z, a video artist torn between work and her relationship with her cameraman/boyfriend. While Z sees television as a means of self-expression, electronic media also substitute for human contact, underscoring the sense of isolation in urban life.
