Charles Fleming Richards was an attorney of Georgetown, Sussex County, Del. He was active in state politics and served as chairman of the Republican Executive Committee of Sussex County. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention of 1897 and took a prominent part in framing the current state constitution. His son, Charles Sudler Richards, was also an attorney at Georgetown. Mary Caroline (M. C.) Richards described herself as "teacher, writer, lecturer, potter, poet." She joined the faculty of Black Mountain College in 1945.
