Photograph album of the David P. Thompson family of Portland, Or., circa 1880-1901. David P. Thompson (1834-1901) was governor of the Idaho Territory, mayor of Portland, an Oregon state senator, and later United States minister to Turkey. Most of the photographs are portraits of members of the Thompson family, including David and his wife, Mary Meldrum Thompson; their children, Genevieve Thompson Smith, Bessie Thompson Teal, and Ralph Thompson; other members of the Thompson, Teal, and Meldrum families; and various members of prominent Portland families, including the Holladays. There are also some photographs of the Thompson's residence in Portland at 12th and Yamhill, as well as portraits two Turkish servants employed in the Turkish embassy where Thompson served in 1892-1893. Photographers include Abell and Son and Aune Studio of Portland, Or., among others.
