Annette Turngren (1902-1980) was born in Minnesota. She trained to be an English teacher at the University of Minnesota, where an instructor suggested she write for children. Her first book, Flaxen braids, was published in 1937, and she went on to write both fiction (especially mysteries) and non-fiction for children.
