Roman Bronze Works Archives, 1902-1977.

Correspondence, files, ledgers, order books, client cards, plaster model index, and architectural drawings. The bulk of the materials include records from the foundry's greatest activity spanning the early 1900s until the mid-1960s. The bronze foundry was a rare example of an American fine-arts business whose purpose extended beyond sales to include participation in the creative process. Works by almost every important American figurative sculptor who was active between 1900 and 1950 are represented in the archives. Also included are almost 800 oversized architectural drawings documenting the decorative elements and fixtures cast by the foundry for ten major municipal and commercial buildings erected during the 1930s and 1940s.
